Janzen, Anna Mae Hiebert

Anna Mae Janzen, 91, died February 22, 2019 at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. She was born February 24, 1927 in Marion County, Kansas, the daughter of Edmund and Agatha Schmidt Hiebert. She was a graduate of Goessel High School. A homemaker most of her life, she was a member of Kingdom Life Ministries, on the board of the Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp, a member of Spring Lake Resort, a member of Golden Agers, and knitted for Newton Medical Auxiliary.
She married Floyd Janzen on April 5, 1951 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel. He passed away December 21, 2016.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Sheryl (Kim) Shantz, Phoenix, AZ, Kayleen (Rick) Curey, Michigan Center, MI, and Amy (Richard) Duerksen, Newton; a brother, John Hiebert, Beatrice, NE; stepsisters, Mary Richert and Susan Voth, both of Goessel; step brother, Henry Dueck, Arizona; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Susanna Hiebert; a son, Ed Janzen; brothers, Salmon and Erwin Hiebert; and sisters Sylvia Goertz, Velma Flaming, and Lela Goertz.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Kingdom Life Ministries, Hesston. Burial will follow at Hesston City Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or Ethnos 360, both in care of the funeral home.
Jones, Daniel M.
Dec. 26, 1962 – Feb. 26, 2019
Daniel M. (Danny) Jones, 56, died peacefully, Tuesday, February 26 at the home of his brother Floyd in Fairfield, MT. Floyd and his wife Carolyn were his caretakers for the past seven years. Prior to that he was cared for by his sister Susie and her husband David for 23 years. He was one of God's special children. He was born Dec. 26, 1962, in
Goshen, to Manass S. and Katie Ann (Beachy) Jones.
He is survived by five brothers, David (Marie) Jones of Winnemucca, NV, Mervin (Bonnie) Jones of Howe, M. Sidney (Ruth) Jones of Topeka, Edward (Judy) Jones, Floyd (Carolyn) Jones both of Fairfield, MT; three sisters, Esther (Lavern) Kauffman of Colorado Springs, CO, Susie (David) Borntrager of Sarasota, FL, Miriam (Russell) Stults of Goshen; 31 nieces and nephews and 34 great- nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 2:00- 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 2 at Woodlawn Mennonite Church, 62861 CR 41, Goshen, where funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 3 at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Grace Haven Cemetery, Millersburg. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is assisting with arrangements.
Kanagy, Rita M. Mast, 74, of Belleville, Mifflin Co., PA died July 13, 2019 at the same place. She was born November 18, 1944. On November 16, 1963 she was married to Roy D. Kanagy, who was born November 11, 1942 and survives.
Surviving are children, Tamela Peachey, David Kanagy, Curtis Kanagy, and Robert Kanagy; and a sister, Lana Byler.
Memorial services were held July 17, 2019 at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, 115 Maple Grove Rd., Belleville, Mifflin Co., PA with burial in Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville, PA.

Rita M. Kanagy, 74, of 297 Beantree Lane, Belleville, passed away at 1 a.m. July 13, 2019, at her home.
Rita was the daughter of the late Amos and Rachel (Miller) Mast. She is survived by: her husband of 56 years, Roy D. Kanagy; daughter, Tamela Peachey, and husband, Nathan, of Belleville; three sons, Curtiss Kanagy and wife, Robin, of Maine, Robert Kanagy, and wife, Audrey, of Lancaster and David Kanagy and wife, Carrie, of Belleville; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Lana Byler and husband, Loren, of Allensville and sister-in-law, DaVida Kanagy, of Belleville.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Randall Mast, and a sister-in-law, Martha Kanagy.
She was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church, where she was deaconess and was an active member of the Sewing Circle. Recently, she volunteered at the Thrift and Gift Shop and the Gift Shop at Valley View Haven. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, with Pastor Alan Kauffman officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Locust Grove Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Grove Church.

Kauffman, J. Fredrick, 71, of Philadelphia, PA died December 10, 2019 at the same place from a heart attack. He was born March 16, 1948 at Pender, NE to Earnest Floyd and Lois (Grieser) Kauffman. On August 5, 1973 in Saigon, Vietnam he was married to Minh Thi Nguyen, who was born July 15, 1950 and survives.
Surviving are two sons, Tony Kauffman and wife Nadia Ali, and Timothy Kauffman; a brother, Don Kauffman; and Judith Georges, a sister in-law (Dennis).
A brother, Dennis Kauffman, preceded him in death.
Volunteer with MCC in Guatemala ('76-'77), India ('78-'81), Cambodia ('81-'85), and Thailand ('89-'94).

Kauffman, Mary Stoltzfus
April 14, 1948 - June 16, 2019
Mary S. Kauffman, 71 joined her heavenly father on June 16, 2019. Mary passed quietly at home with her husband and family by her side.
Mary, daughter of Lydia P. & Amos Z. Stoltzfus, was born on April 14, 1948 in Honey Brook, PA. Mary was joined in marriage to David G. Kauffman on April 13, 1968 and had the honor of celebrating 51 years together. Mary was an active member at Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church and participated in many church activities, including Sewing Circle. Mary was a school bus driver for Weavertown Mennonite School for 40 years and enjoyed the many students on her route. She also served with dedication and purpose as a Volunteer EMT with her husband at Gordonville Fire & EMS for 41 years.
Mary is survived by her family, including siblings, Ann and Ray Yoder, Stephen and Mary Etta Stoltzfus, Barbara and Nelson Shrock, Ivan and Daria Stoltzfus. Mary also was a devoted mother to her 5 sons, D. Glenn, Lauren R. and Glenda, Stephen L. and Valerie, Michael J. and Sarah, Anthony L. and Jody. Mary also enjoyed being grandma to her 7 grandsons and 9 granddaughters. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother David Stoltzfus and son Stanley L. Kauffman.
Mary will always be remembered for faith, devotion and service to everyone she knew. She was a faithful servant to Jesus and a steadfast witness to his word.
Viewing and funeral services to celebrate Mary's life will be held at Ridgeview Mennonite Church. The viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 18th between 1-3:00pm and 5-8:00pm. The funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 10:00 am.

Kaufman, John Junior "Shorty", 94, of Goshen, died Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born December 15, 1924 in Davidsville, Pennsylvania to John B. and Elsie (Mast) Kaufman.
On May 26, 1945 he married Violet G. Garber in Middlebury.
He is survived by his wife, Violet, of 73 years; three children, Nancy (Gail) Ehret of Cassopolis, Michigan, Annette (Karen Paluzzi) Kaufman of Granger and John G. (Myrna) Kaufman of Goshen; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Kermit Kaufman and two siblings, Willis Kaufman and Hope Kauffman.
A founding member of Bonneyville Mennonite Church, he worked as a controller at Mastercraft, Shipshewana.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 24, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
An 11 a.m. memorial service will be conducted Friday, January 25, 2019, at Bonneyville Mennonite Church with Rev. Edward Kauffman, nephew, officiating.
A private burial will precede the service at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.

Kaufman, LeRoy James (Dr.), 75, of Freeman, SD died June 2, 2019 at the same place from a heart attack. He was born March 13, 1944 at Yankton, SD to Sollie and Nellie (Preheim) Kaufman. On March 23, 1968 he was married to Dr. Dawn Crocker, who died in 2007. Dr. LeRoy and Dr. Dawn practiced optometry in Freeman, SD for 38 years.
Surviving are two sons, Erik Kaufman and David Kaufman, and siblings, Larry (Lois) Kaufman and Muriel Kaufman.
Memorial services were held June 10, 2019 at Salem-Zion Mennonite Church, Freeman, SD with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Kaufman, Linda Joyce Fletcher
April 9, 1943 - April 21, 2019
Kaufman, Linda Joyce Fletcher, 76, of Goshen, died Sunday, April 21, 2019, at Goshen Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born April 9, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky to Thomas Ansel and Catherine Leah (Wentzel) Fletcher. She graduated from Normandy High School (St. Louis, MO) and attended St Luke’s Nursing School, graduating first in her class in 1964. She married Arlan D. Kaufman on June 11, 1966.
Linda was a long-time resident of Newton, Kansas, where she raised a family with husband Arlan, worked as a nurse and attended Faith Mennonite Church. After moving to Goshen, Linda attended Assembly Mennonite Church and lived at Evergreen Place, Greencroft where she enjoyed their social activities. She was a life-long learner and instilled the value of education in her children and others. Even in retirement, she attended Goshen College Life-long learning classes and was an avid reader. She enjoyed playing games, doing word puzzles and helping others. She adored her grandchildren and crocheted blankets for each of them. She also enjoyed tending her small garden and flowers.
She is survived by her husband Arlan Kaufman, formerly of Newton, Kansas; three children, Michael (Sonja) Kaufman of Lawrence, Kansas, Cheryl (Brian) Mast of Goshen, and David (Sydney) Kaufman of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Mariah, Mikayla, and Sophia Kaufman, Mackenzie, Tristan and Toby Mast, and Cole and Adler Kaufman; and six siblings, Jim (Cathy) Fletcher of Lees Summit, Missouri, Tom (Jackie) Fletcher, Gail (Dan) Harashe, Mark (Jayme) Fletcher, Judi O’Mara, and Scott Fletcher all of St. Louis, Missouri; and a sister-in-law, Donna (Harry) Neufeld of North Newton, Kansas.
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held on May 25, 2019, at 3pm at the Gathering Place at Evergreen Place, 1300 Greencroft Dr, Goshen.

Keeler, Daniel L., 80, of Telford, Bucks Co., PA died May 13, 2019 at the same place. He was born September 3, 1938 at Perkasie, Bucks Co., PA to Milton and Lydia (Leatherman) Keeler. He was married to Priscilla Oberholser, who survives.
Surviving are daughter, Janice C. King (and husband Barry); and daughter, Kathleen R. Fretz (and husband William); two grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Keeler (and wife Mary) and Paul Keeler (and wife Rachel) and a sister, Mary Moyer (and husband Timothy).
Three brothers, Harold Keeler, John Keeler, and Merrill Keeler preceded him in death.
Dan was a member of Spring Mount Mennonite Church.

Clara Mae Kemp, age 95, of Nappanee, died at 7:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2019 at her daughter’s residence. She was born March 20, 1924 in Nappanee to Daniel A. and Fannie J. (Miller) Miller. On February 9, 1943 she married Daniel E. Kemp. He preceded her in death May 2, 2000. Clara was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by her children, Arlene (Walter) Schwartz, Etna Green, Marvin (Loretta) Kemp, Nappanee, Harvey (Barbara) Kemp, Goshen, Eva Burkholder, Nappanee, Wilma Mast, Millersburg, Ray (Judy) Kemp, Mel (Gayle) Kemp, and Marilyn (Richard) Kemp, all of Nappanee; 48 grandchildren; 169 great-grandchildren; 51 great great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin D. (Fannie Mae) Miller; sister, Wilma (Henry) Yoder; and brother-in-law, Marvin E. Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Eldon Kemp; grandsons, Ivan and Travis Miller; great-granddaughter, Karen Sue Schwartz; great-grandson, Daniel Joseph Schwartz; great great-grandson, Austin Jon Schwartz; grandson-in-law, Lloyd McCoige; son-in-laws, Walter Burkholder Jr. and Tim Mast; sisters, Lizzie Troyer and Edna Miller.

Kempf, Orval Arlis
Jan. 17, 1935-Jan. 5, 2019
Orval Arlis Kempf beloved husband of Ruby Fern (Eigsti) Kempf, born January 17th 1935 to Lee and Ella (Hostetler) Kempf at Kalona, Iowa.
On June 23rd, 1957, he was united in marriage to Ruby, daughter of Chris and Lizzie (Hostetler) Eigsti, sharing the joys and sorrows of life for over 61 years.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife Ruby, and children; Retha, Hughesville, MO; Rosella and husband Chris Hostetler, Sedalia, MO; Ollie and wife Michelle (Wagler), Sarasota, FL; Ruth and husband Paul Hostetler, Mena, AR; Arlie, Sarasota, FL; Mirriel and husband Sam Packnett, Hughesville, MO; daughter-in-law Lillian and husband Rodney Blosser, Buffalo, MO; Mary, Hughesville, MO; 24 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Also surviving is 1 sister; Marietta Miller, Tampico, IL; 2 sisters-in-law; Loretta Kempf, Sedalia, MO; and Joy and husband Dale Hostetler, Viola, AR.
He was preceded in death by his stillborn daughter, Rebecca Jean, son Kevin, great grandson Kirby, his parents, Lee and Ella, brothers Alvin and Eldon, and sisters Emmagene, Rosetta, and Ruby Jane.
He accepted Christ in his youth and was a faithful member of the Olive Hill Amish Mennonite Church at the time of his death.
After battling cancer for almost a year, God called Grandpa from his home on January 5th, 2019 at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 19 days.
Orval knew no stranger and was friendly to all. He showed his appreciation to those who lovingly cared for him during his illness. His heart’s desire was to meet his family in Heaven someday.
Dad especially noticed sunsets and called Mom in to look at them. A few days before he passed away, God sent us a very beautiful, impressive sunset that reminded us of His love.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the meals brought in, and the help, love and prayers through this time of grief.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Olive Hill Amish-Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Olive Hill Amish-Mennonite School.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Kennel, LeRoy E., 88, of Goshen, died Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Elkhart Meadows.
He was born March 29, 1930 in Shickley, Nebraska to Peter and Anna (Reeb) Kennel.
On July 26, 1953 he married Pauline Graybill in Freeport, Illinois.
She survives along with four children, Jon (Mary) Kauffmann-Kennel, Elkhart, Rita (Larry) Lopienski, Bartlett, Illinois, Janice (Lonnie) Kennel Roop, Schaumburg, Illinois and Jay (Laura) Kennel, Riverside, California; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a brother, Willard Kennel, Albany, Oregon.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Fern Springer and three brothers, Harry, Lester and Mahlon Kennel.
A 1951 graduate of Goshen College, LeRoy went on to earn master's degrees from University of Iowa in 1952 and AMBS in 1953 and a doctorate degree from Michigan State University where he worked for 14 years.
LeRoy spent most of his adult life pastoring churches in the Chicago area at Lombard Mennonite Church and Christ Community Mennonite Church in Schaumburg.

Kilmer, Adin Henry

Adin Henry Kilmer, age 84 years, of Versailles, Mo., passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019. Adin was born on December 10, 1934, in Brutus, Michigan, the son of Martin Z. and Mary (Brubacher) Kilmer, both of whom preceded him in death. Adin was united in marriage on January 16, 1958, in New Holland, Pennsylvania to Annie Z. Newswanger who survives of the home. Adin was a member of the Excelsior Mennonite Church of the Groffdale Conference. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include: four sons, Norman N. Kilmer (Vera) of Barnett, Mo., Adam N. Kilmer (Erma), Martin N. Kilmer (Wilma) and Ernest N. Kilmer (Edna) all of Versailles, Mo.; four daughters, Mary Martin (Clement) of Latham, Mo., Alice Newswanger (Floyd) of Versailles, Mo., Minerva Martin (James Ivan) of Barnett, Mo., and Martha Newswanger (Elvin) of Fortuna, Mo.; three brothers, Eli Kilmer of Denver, Pa., Harvey Kilmer (Judy) of California, Mo., Rufus Kilmer (Martha) of Latham, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Randy Baker of Joplin, Mo.; four sisters, Lydia Sauder (Enos) of Latham, Mo., Nancy Ramer (David) of Nippecanoe, Ind., Fannie Martin (Eddie) of Nappanee, Ind.,Amanda Burkholder of Rochester, Ind.; a sister-in-law Ella Kilmer of Versailles, Mo.; 52 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: two brothers, William and Menno Kilmer; a brother-in-law, Levi Burkholder; three sisters, Emma Kilmer, Lucinda Baker, and Anna Mary Kilmer; two sisters-in-law, Irene Kilmer and Lena Kilmer; and a grandson, Joshua Ivan Martin.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Martin Kilmer's home. Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at Excelsior Mennonite Church in Versailles, Mo. with Daniel Newswanger, Walter Martin, Leonard Martin and Harry Leinbach officiating. Kilmer, Peggy Ann Jones
July 12, 1947 - November 5, 2019
Peggy Ann Kilmer, age 72, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Orrville, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, following a period of declining health.
Peggy was born on July 12, 1947, in Medina, to the late Richard and Betty (Wagner) Jones, graduated from Central Christian High School in 1965, and attended nursing school where she received her LPN degree. She married Wayne Charles Kilmer on May 15,1965, in Medina. Wayne passed away on May 3, 1978.
She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in healthcare for over 25 years, retiring in 2009.
Peggy was a former member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church in North Lawrence. She currently was attending Sarasota Community Church in Sarasota Florida.
Surviving are four children, Carrie (Richard - dec.) Morris, Kenneth (Melissa) Kilmer, Catherine (James) Copley, and Kevin (Sunhee) Kilmer; nephew Andrew Jones; 14 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Moran.
Friends may call on Friday, November 15, 2019, at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 14795 Wooster St. NW, North Lawrence, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

King, Daniel, Jr.
Nov. 28, 1956 - Oct. 16, 2019
Daniel King, Jr., 62, of LaGrange, died at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart, IN.
He was born on November 28, 1956, in Dover, Delaware to Daniel and Polly (Mast) King, Sr.
Daniel moved to LaGrange County from Dover, Delaware in 2015. He worked as a woodworker making furniture and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
On March 25, 1976, he married Martha Nissley in Le Raysville, PA to. She survives him.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at the Ora Bontrager residence, 3185 W 050 N, LaGrange, IN. The Bishop Wilbur Bontrager and home ministers will officiate the services.
Burial will take place in Mast Cemetery, LaGrange, IN.

Kleinsasser, Kathryn E. Hofer, 91, of Freeman, Hutchinson Co., SD died November 4, 2019 at Sioux Falls, Minnehaha Co., SD.
She was born July 3, 1928 at Bridgewater, McCook Co., SD to Mike K. and Anna J. (Walter) Hofer. Mike was born March 28, 1899 and died April 28, 1948 Anna was born June 6, 1903 (death unknown).
On September 14, 1947 at Freeman, SD she was married to Amos J. Kleinsasser, who was born March 28, 1925 and died April 21, 2018.
Surviving are a son, Robert (Debra) Kleinsasser; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Glanzer.
A son, Michael Kleinsasser preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held November 9, 2019 at Hutterthal Mennonite Church, Freeman, SD with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Klopfenstein, Dereck Alan (Dr.)
Sept. 26, 1969 - Aug. 25, 2019
Local veterinarian, Dr. Dereck Alan Klopfenstein, age 49, was struck by a car on August 8 while doing a training ride for his upcoming Ironman. He sustained massive brain damage and died on August 25, 2019.
He is survived by his children, Gabriella, a sophomore at Goshen College, Lucas, a senior at Bethany and Samuel, a freshman at Bethany; his parents Dr. Douglas and Janette Yoder of Goshen; brothers Chad (Tracy) Klopfenstein of Goshen, and Justin (Tricia) Yoder of Indianapolis; nieces, Alexa and Maya Klopfenstein, Logan and Eleanor Yoder and nephew, Weston Yoder; and his girlfriend, Dr. Diane Kaeser.
On September 26, 1969, Dereck was born to Roger and Janette Rupp Klopfenstein in Archbold, Ohio. On August 23, 1973, his father passed away. In 1976 Douglas Yoder became his father when he married Janette. The family moved to West Liberty, Ohio, where Doug had a veterinary practice.
Dereck graduated from West Liberty Salem High School in 1988, from Goshen College in 1992 and from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. He worked three years as a veterinarian in Wisconsin. In 1999 his father and he started Dairy Veterinary Management Services, Goshen, Indiana.
Dereck lived in Goshen since 1999 and was a member of Belmont Mennonite Church. He was married to Marisa Schipani from 1995 to 2015. Their children were the greatest joy of Dereck’s life. They took many vacations full of learning experiences. He was proud of all their theater and sports activities and filmed or photographed most of them.
Dereck was known for his intellect and reasoning process, his deep relationships and conversations, his wit and storytelling, as well as his physical achievements.
Visitation will be at College Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall from 1-8 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 and the memorial will be in the sanctuary at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019. Pastor Mandy Yoder will have the meditation.
Knicely, Lowell Samuel
April 29, 1938 - December 31, 2019
Lowell Samuel Knicely, 81, of Dayton, passed away Dec. 31, 2019, unexpectedly at his home near Mole Hill. He had battled Parkinsonï's Disease since 2006.
Mr. Knicely was born April 29, 1938, in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Dewitt P. and Alda C. (Shank) Knicely.
He was a lifelong dairy farmer, who in retirement worked at G&H Foods, Silver Lake Mill, and Country Meat Market at the Dayton Farmers Market. Lowell was a member of the Old Order Mennonite Church.
On March 20, 1962, he married the former Mildred Burkholder, who preceded him in death by three weeks on Dec. 10, 2019.
Mr. Knicely is survived by his children, Wilson Knicely and wife, Shirley, of Bridgewater, Gerald Knicely and wife, Deanne, Lloyd Knicely and wife, Wilda, Stanley Knicely and wife, Mary Ella, Edith Landes and husband, Kenny, all of Dayton; grandchildren, Quentin, Rhonda Witmer and husband, Jordan, Kathryn, Michael, Jordan, Eileen, Shara, Autumn, Alayna, Heidi, Deborah; great-grandson, Brendan; siblings, Charles Knicely and wife, Susie, Anna Lee Knicely, Raymond Knicely and wife, Barbara, Frank Knicely and wife, Alice, Daniel Knicely and wife, Becky; sister-in-law, Martha Knicely; and a brother-in-law, Byard Showalter. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Knicely; and a sister, Margaret Showalter.
The ministers of the church will conduct the funeral service Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mildred Louise (Burkholder) Knicely, 78, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at her home near Mole Hill.
Mildred was born on March 11, 1941, in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late John S. and Vernie (Knicely) Burkholder. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Mennonite Church.
On March 20, 1962, she married Lowell S. Knicely who survives.
In addition to her husband, Mildred is survived by her children, Wilson Knicely and wife Shirley of Bridgewater, Gerald Knicely and wife Deanne, Lloyd Knicely and wife Wilda, Stanley Knicely and wife Mary Ella, Edith Landes and husband Kenny, all of Dayton; grandchildren, Quentin, Rhonda Witmer and husband Jordan, Kathryn, Michael, Jordan, Eileen, Shara, Autumn, Alayna, Heidi, and Deborah; great-grandson, Brendan; sisters, Norma Koogler, and Anna Burkholder; sisters-in-law, Martha Burkholder, Virginia Ann Burkholder; brothers-in-law, John Rodes, Allen Beery; and numerous nieces and nephews who knew her as "Aunt Kate".
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl Burkholder, Vernon Burkholder and wife Betty, Mark Burkholder; sisters, Sadie Rodes, Wilda Rhodes and husband Joe, Beulah Koogler and husband Paul, Eunice Beery; and a brother-in-law, Ervin Koogler.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 10:30 am at the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church. The funeral will be conducted by the ministers of the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Kniss, Paul George
May 23, 1925 - July 8, 2019
Paul George Kniss, 94, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Mumaw House of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.
Mr. Kniss was born on May 23, 1925 in Peoria, Illinois, and was a son of the late Lloy Anson and Elizabeth (Luther) Kniss.
On August 23, 1947 he married the former Esther Mast who preceded him in death on October 31, 2007*. He was also preceded in death by his brother Dr. Mark Kniss.
Paul was a baby when his parents were sent by Mennonite Board of Missions to India. He spent most of his life in this country which he loved.
Along with his parents and siblings, during the worst of World War II in 1942, Paul returned to United States. In that fall he attended Eastern Mennonite College during which time he earned his college and seminary degrees.
Paul's life was dedicated to serving in India with Esther, who shared his calling for mission, for 45 years under the Mennonite Mission Network. Together they planted a number of churches and established a Christian book store, radio and literature ministry in Ranchi, Bihar. He served as Regional Superintendent of Emmanuel Hospital Association. While in India he became involved with Nepal as a Representative through United Mission to Nepal.
Paul and Esther later served shorter missions in India under the Missionary Church denomination as well as serving short term missions in Trinidad under Virginia Mennonite Missions.
In 2009, Paul married Naomi Hostetler who survives. Together they served five short term missions in India.
Along with Paul's dedication to Christian ministry, he enjoyed the fun things of life. During his times in India, he loved to hunt deer and also tigers and leopards which were molesting the villagers. After his marriage to Naomi, he became an avid bowler and Paul continued bowling until his 93rd birthday.
Until the several days prior to his death, Paul's ministry continued via Skype twice a week in conversation and encouragement with church leaders in India, Nepal and Trinidad.
Paul was a member of Ridgeway Mennonite Church and brought his passion for missions to the congregation and was loved by the children.
In addition to his wife, Naomi, a wonderful support and caregiver in recent illnesses, Mr. Kniss is survived by his sister, Esther Augsburger and husband Myron; brother David Kniss and wife Esther, his five step children, Rhoda Steiner and husband Dallas, Cheri Garber and husband Joel, Christina Brenneman, Lorisa Willis, Lisa Friedenberg and husband Larry; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Never having any birth-children of his own with his first wife, he dearly loved his bonus children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 20th at 2:00 pm at Weavers Mennonite Church with Pastors Ben Risser and Phil Kniss officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
Burial will be held privately at Weavers Cemetery.

Kratz, James D.
September 11, 1930 - May 2, 2019
James D. Kratz, 88, died May 2, 2019 at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born September 11, 1930 in Souderton, Pennsylvania to Walter and Hilda (Derstine) Kratz.
In 1951 he moved to La Junta, Colorado to be leader of a Volunteer Service group, where he met his wife Dorothy A. Schrock, who was in nurses training. They were married June 4, 1953.
Jim graduated from Hesston College in 1954, Goshen College in 1956, and Goshen Biblical Seminary in 1959. From 1961 - 1967 Jim and Dorothy lived in Chaco, Argentina working on Bible translation and providing pastoral and medical care to the Toba Indian communities scattered throughout the province.
From 1967 - 1974 he served as Associate Secretary at the Mennonite Board of Missions, overseeing the Mennonite missionaries serving in Latin American countries. He worked at Mennonite Mutual Aid from 1974 - 1992 serving as president from 1987 - 1992. His life focus was to serve those in need, and to pray for and mentor each person in his path.
His wife Dorothy Kratz survives along with three children, Rachel Ann (Phillip) Slabaugh of Sitka, Alaska, James (Karen) Kratz Jr. of Elkhart, and Rebeca (James) Bening of Phoenix, Arizona, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a brother Ray (Mary) Kratz of Washington Borough, Pennsylvania.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother John Kratz.
A memorial service will be held May 11, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Sunnyside Mennonite Church, Elkhart, Indiana.

He was a member of the Latimore Mennonite Church. He was born June 15, 1929 to the late John R. and Esther (Nissley) Kraybill and united in marriage to Amy M. Zimmerman April 14, 1951.

Kreider, B. Winona Stauffer, 88, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday evening, February 1, 2019, at home.
Born in Lancaster on September 3, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin G. and Martha (Zercher) Stauffer. She was married 63 years on August 13th to Franklin H. Kreider.
Winona was a member of Muddy Creek Mennonite Church, Hope Mennonite Fellowship. She was a 1948 graduate of Manor High School, Millersville; attended Eastern Mennonite College, Harrisonburg, VA, and graduated from Millersville College in 1952. She taught first grade in the Manor School District and later at Pleasant Valley Mennonite School, Ephrata. She was a secretary for many years for the family business.
In addition to her husband, Winona is survived by 5 children, Amy L. married to Glenn Martin of Manheim, Dale F. married to Melissa (Shirk) Kreider of Lancaster; Martha J. married to Richard Hoover, Narvon; Barbara E. married to Kenneth Sheaffer, Lancaster; and Leon S. married to Karen (Weaver) Kreider, Denver; 19 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers, LaMar E. Stauffer, Lancaster and B. Leon married to Nancy (Shenk) Stauffer, Manheim; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn (Buckwalter) Stauffer, Reedsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Dwight Eugene Kreider; a great-grandson, Carter Logan Martin; and a brother, J. Robert Stauffer.

Kreider, Frederick M. "Fred", 73, of Conestoga View passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Clarence H. and L. Virginia Armentrout Kreider. He was a member of Mountville Mennonite Church and enjoyed singing, having sung with the Moment of Glad Tidings, eating, and current events. Fred's favorite radio station was 90.3 FM.

Kreider, Lester, died peacefully on January 1, 2019 surrounded by family. Lester was married to Laura Mae Carpenter, with whom he would have celebrated his 58th anniversary in March. He is survived by 3 children: Jay (Kimberly Belzner); Rose; and Pearl (Michael Smith); and three grandchildren: Stacy (James Durborow); Joshua; and Niko.
Kreider, Lester
Lester was the son of the late Elmer S. and Esther M. Kreider, and was raised on the family farm on Donerville Rd. He worked for Franklin H. Kreider for several years before serving in 1-W/VS in Washington, DC. In 1963, Lester organized the first department of respiratory care at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. Later, he worked at Breathing Services in Ephrata and Respitech Medical Inc. in Lancaster.
Lester was an avid gardener, reader, music lover who enjoyed connecting with people through humor. Lester was an active member of several churches across his life – most recently East Petersburg Mennonite. He gave generously to his favorite charities and was a regular blood donor. Lester is also survived by three siblings: Dorothy Ruppert (William); Betty Funk (Curtis); and Arlene. He was preceded in death by three siblings: Esther (Daniel Landis); Edna (Jacob Ginder); and Melvin (Anna Mary).
The family would like to thank the staff at LGH, Lancaster Rehab Hospital and Landis Homes. We are deeply grateful to the staff at Oregon House North at Landis Homes for their expert and gentle care for Lester and his family during his final days.

Mildred M. Kreider, 99, formerly of Lancaster, died Monday, November 25, 2019 at Landis Homes, Lititz. She was the widow of the late Lester H. Kreider who died in 2005, and they celebrated 63 years marriage. Born in Upper Leacock Township, she was the daughter of the late Reuben H. and Mary (Denlinger) Myers. Mildred was a homemaker and a wonderful seamstress, making bridal gowns and dresses. She was a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church, where she was past president of the Women's Missionary Service Commission, and a member of the Home Builders Sunday School Class. Mildred was also a member of the Farm Women Society #18 of Lancaster County, Gideon's Auxiliary of Lancaster, was a volunteer for the Mennonite Central Committee, and in her earlier years she was a member of the Cheer Lenders. Mildred enjoyed flower arranging, knitting, crocheting, visiting family members in Texas and Colorado, and spending time at the cabin in Potter County.
Surviving are a daughter, Sylvia J. Kreider, Colorado, two sons, Donald L. husband of Patricia (Witmer) Kreider, Texas, David M. husband of Renee (Huber), Lancaster; three grandchildren, Joel Kreider, Sheri Kreider Loomis, Shawn Kreider; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Jane Burkholder, Baltimore, Jean wife of Norman Graham, Lancaster, and Mae Shenk, Lancaster. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Anne Hosler King, Miriam Shirk, and a brother Reuben Myers, Jr.

Kreider, Roy Herr
December 19, 1924 - October 29, 2019
Roy Herr Kreider, 94, of Broadway, passed away Oct. 29, 2019. He was born Dec. 19, 1924, in Lancaster, Pa., the son of the late Irvin K. and Fannie Herr Kreider. He was a graduate of EMC, EMS, and Goshen Biblical Seminary.
On Aug. 17, 1951, he married the late Florence Cressman. In July 1953, in the wake of the humanitarian crisis of WWII and the holocaust that sent thousands of traumatized Jews to Palestine seeking refuge, and the search by Mennonite Boards across North America for personnel to respond, Roy and Florence, feeling a deep resonance to help and seek interreligious healing and peace, were commissioned to Israel, where they lived with their family for 32 years.
Roy’s service in Israel began with studies in Hebrew, Biblical archeology, historical geography, Jewish history, and Rabbinical and Mishnaic studies at Hebrew University and Bar Ilan Orthodox University. Over the years, he served as manager of two Christian bookstores, coordinated Bible Lands Seminars, served as co-pastor at Immanuel House Congregation in Jaffa, and was a member of three interfaith dialogue groups. He served as General Manager of Nes Amim International Agricultural Settlement, Secretary Treasurer of the Board of Sharon Tours International, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the United Christian Council in Israel. He authored and co-edited several books including Sojourners in the Sacred Land and its companion Pilgrim Map of the Holy Land, and his Israel memoir Land of Revelation.
In 1985 they returned to the Shenandoah Valley where he served Cornerstone Churches as counselor and instructor in the Cornerstone Bible Institute and as consultant to the Mennonite Middle East Reference Group which resources eight countries in the Mediterranean region.
Surviving are his children: David and wife, Mary Ann, of Harrisonburg; Jonathan and wife, Fran, of Lima N.Y.; and Rosemary and husband, James Hess, of Broadway. He has 11 grandchildren: Tara Kreider and husband, Danny Yoder; Luke Beck-Kreider and wife, Janie; Aleina Kreider and husband, Ben Roth; Michael Kreider; Daniel Kreider; Joel Kreider and wife, Kelly; Gabriel Kreider-Letterman and wife, Hannah; Joshua Kreider; Benjamin Hess and wife, Christina; Miriam Hess Crider and husband, Basil; and Alisha Hess Wright and husband, Andrew. He also has 12 great-grandchildren. Surviving is his sister, Janet Kreider of Lititz, Pa. His elder sister, Elizabeth Kreider, preceded him in death.
Roy is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and by all who knew him for his wise, winsome, gracious, and caring spirit. He enjoyed meeting people across cultures, faiths, and worldviews and engaged all with warmth, appreciation, and respect.
A memorial service is planned for 5 p.m. Nov. 9, 2019, at Lindale Mennonite Church in Linville, Va.
Kropf, Donald Owen

Donald Owen Kropf, husband of Rita Carol (Osman) Kropf, was born October 8, 1950 to Owen and Lily (Hostetler) Kropf at Princeton, IL.
He passed away on February 4, 2019, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO, at the age of 68 years, 3 months, and 27 days.
He was baptized in his youth at Tampico, IL. At the time of his passing he was a member of the Pleasant View A.M. Church at Buffalo, MO.
On June 18, 1983 he was united in marriage to Rita Carol Osman, daughter of Clifford and Imogene Osman.
Surviving besides his sorrowing wife is one daughter, Amanda Jean, husband Kevin Ballenger; grandchildren Donnie, Silas, Lily, Heaven, and Hunter. Also surviving are his mother Lily, brothers Gordon and wife Lily, Rodney and wife Rhoda, Jason and wife Elsie, sisters, Leona Hostetler, Rita and husband Leslie Swartzentruber, Margaret and husband Jonathan Headings, Melodee and husband Stanley Hostetler, Jewell and husband Donald Headings, and sister-in-law Karen Kropf, wife of Robert.
Preceding him in death were his father Owen, infant brother Lester, brother Robert, brother-in-law John Hostetler, husband of Leona, and sister Marjorie Kropf.
Don and Rita made their home together at Dover, MO, for almost 35 years.
In his many years of trucking he touched many lives and was an inspiration to those he worked with and met from day to day.
After an accident in 2009 he was disabled, and was lovingly cared for by his wife in their home.
The last 8 months he was tenderly cared for in the home of his brother Rodney and Rhoda Kropf and family, nephew Levi especially assisting in his care.
Kropf, Elva Miller
September 9, 1921 - July 17, 2019
Elva (Miller) Kropf of Harrisburg, Oregon passed on to eternal rest on Wednesday July 17th, 2019 at her home, at the age of 97.
She was born in Elkhart County, IN., the daughter of Ezra and Susie (Weaver) Miller.
In 1946 she married Wilbert Kropf, who preceded her in death in 2012 after 66 years of marriage.
Elva was baptized in her youth and was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church. She was a loving and virtuous wife and mother.
Family members who survive include daughters Edith (Jose) Patzan of Harrisburg, Oregon, Mary (Curvin) Kreider of Squaw Valley, California, sons Larry (Beulah) Kropf of Pelkie, Michigan, Leland (Christina) Kropf of Harrisburg, Oregon, James (Maria) Kropf of Harrisburg, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by three children. A son Samuel Ezra (1981), and daughters Evelyn Faye (1997) and Martha Alicia Birky (1999).
There will be a viewing Monday, July 22 from 5 to 8pm at the Halsey Mennonite Church followed by a Funeral Service on Tuesday July 23rd at 10 am at the Halsey Mennonite Church.

Kropf, Rosemary Jean Shrock
April 7, 1944 - June 17, 2019
Pocahontas- Rosemary Jean (Shrock) Kropf beloved wife of Ervin Kropf, was born on April 7, 1944 at Tampico, IL to Paul and Anna Shrock.
She peacefully passed away on June 17, 2019 at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 10 days due to a stroke.
She accepted Christ in her youth and was a faithful member of Mt Salem AM Church at the time of her death.
She was united in marriage to Ervin Kropf on June 9, 1968. They shared the joys and sorrows of marriage for 51 years, 8 days.
To this union was born three sons and two daughters. Brian, and wife Rose of Marshall, MO, Melody and Monica of Dalton, AR. Two sons, Merle and Jacob preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Mt. Salem AM Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Salem AM Cemetery.
Kuhns, Edwin L.

Edwin L. Kuhns, age 79, of Nappanee, died unexpectedly of natural causes, at 7:15 am, Monday, December 23, 2019 at his home. He was born November 28, 1940 in Marshall County to Levi M. and Edna (Yoder) Kuhns. On June 3, 1965, he married Lydiann L. Schrock in Lagrange County.
Mr. Kuhns was a lifetime area resident and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving is his wife, Lydiann Kuhns; children, Paul (KatieKuhns, Norman (Lena) Kuhns, Alvin (Marilyn) Kuhns, all of Bremen, Ruth (Danie) Schmucker, Wakarusa, Mary (Mose) Wengerd, Benjamin (Carolyn) Kuhns, both of Nappanee, Lloyd (Dorothy) Kuhns, Bremen, Leon (Eleanor) Kuhns, Nappanee, Laura (Norman) Mullet, Bremen; 48 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Ivan Kuhns, Nappanee, Menno (Elizabeth) Kuhns, Drakesville, IA,; sisters, Fannie (Albert) Miller, Nappanee, Carrie (Andrew) Hochstetler, Lagrange, Lizzie (Vernon) Bontrager, Mio, MI; sisters-in-law, Ella Kuhns, Bremen, Lydia Kuhns, Nappanee, Polly Kuhns, Dunnegan, MO; and brother-in-law, Henry Mast. He was preceded in death by brothers, Manasses, Jonas, Omar, Lester Kuhns and sister, Wilma Mast.
Family and friends may call after 2 pm, Tuesday, December 24, 2019 and Wednesday, December 25th at the family residence. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am, Thursday, December 26th at Joseph Helmuth residence, 69207 Beech Rd, Nappanee. Bishop John Troyer and Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will be in Borkholder Cemetery.

Ku K'Paw Paw, 12, of Emmaus PA died April 21, 2019 at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, PA from complications following treatment for Leukemia--lung infection. She was born August 11, 2006 in Thailand to Ah Paung and Jamie K'Paw.
Surviving are her parents and a sister, Julia Paw Paung.
She was a baptized member of Whitehall Mennonite Church, Whitehall PA
Memorial services were held April 26, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church of Allentown; Allentown, PA with burial in Northwood Cemetary, Emmaus, PA.

Ku K’Paw Paw, 12, of Emmaus, died April 21, 2019 in Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia surrounded by her family. Born in Thailand, she was the daughter of Ah Paung and Jamie K’Paw. She was a 7th grade student at Lower Macungie Middle School. She was a member of Whitehall Mennonite Church.
Beautiful Ku K (or Cookie) was a beloved daughter, cousin, sister, friend, student, and patient, and she was a treasure to many. She was a talented artist, a feisty and fun-loving young woman, a caring soul, and she trusted the Lord with all her heart. She was a brave fighter and the strongest person any who had the privilege to know her have ever known.
We love you darling Ku K and we will see you in heaven one day very soon. You were our light and our lives were richer for having you in them. We weep for our loss but we rejoice in your homecoming.
She is survived by her loving parents; sister, Julia Paw Paung; maternal grandparents, Yee Yee Win and Kyi Tun; paternal grandparents, Naw Mu Baung and Hla Myint; 2nd family, Marla Sell and her parents, Myra and Dennis Sell; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Thaw Dah.
A funeral service will be held on Fri., April 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM in First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, 3231 West Tilghman St., Allentown. Kulp, Oleta “Pauline” Miller of Stratford,WI, entered into the joy of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 7:10 PM on January 26, 2019 after a short battle with recurrent cancer. She was in her own home surrounded by her loved ones and under the exceptional care of Ministry Home Care Hospice services.
Pauline was born March 15, 1938 in Dover, Ohio, to Daniel and Erma (Christner) Miller. At the age of 8, she was placed in the home of Enos and Esther Martin of Wakarusa, IN, where she spent her growing up years.
She married Reuben Kulp of New Paris, IN on January 5, 1964.
Pauline and Reuben were sweethearts, and their tender love held strong through every storm. They adjusted well to the changes life handed them. They moved from Indiana to Wisconsin in 1979, and worked with their family on a dairy farm for the next ten years. Reuben and Pauline were a perfect team. Pauline kept the house running smoothly while Reuben was trucking over the road to support them financially. Later, when her sweetheart was enduring chronic pain, Pauline loved and supported him in every possible way. When Pauline bravely fought through breast cancer in 2009 and incredible health challenges in the years following, Reuben loved her well. In spite of their health issues, they tended a vegetable garden together. Reuben dreamed, planted, watered, harvested and marketed, while Pauline hoed, pulled weeds, preserved food and blessed family and friends with their bounty. When Reuben died six months ago, Pauline promised him she would be with him soon. After 55 years of loving and serving each other, they couldn't stay apart long.
Pauline lived a full and happy life. To know her was to be welcomed into her home and conversations, usually for a piece of pie and plenty of coffee. She always made time for visitors, and made their comfort her priority. Her love of people and life was irresistible, and her laughter infectious. She always took time for the little and the least, whether it was nursing an unfortunate creature back to health, reviving an old houseplant that had been left to wither, or refurbishing some unwanted piece of ratty furniture. She was creative, innovative and resourceful and she up-cycled long before it was the Thing to Do.
Pauline was preceded in death by her biological parents; her foster parents; her only brother, Walter Miller; a great-grandson, Sojourner Bavido; and her dear husband, Reuben.
Survivors include her five children, John (Twila) Kulp of Mosinee,WI; Bob (Laura) Kulp of Stratford, WI; Mike (Reyna) Kulp of Stratford,WI; Margaret (Mark) Troyer of Maricopa, AZ; Marjorie (Mark) Weaver of Stratford, WI; 28 grandchildren, 10 spouses of grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother-in-law and several sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
The Kulp family welcomes friends and relatives to join us as we say good-bye to the dearest lady we have ever known.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 31, 2019 at St. John's Lutheran Church at B3750 State Highway 13, Spencer, WI, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00PM.
Funeral services will be on Friday, February 1, 2019, also at St. John's, at 10:30 AM.
Burial will follow the service at the Bethany Mennonite Church cemetery.
Kunkel, Rhoda S. Martin, 76, of Manheim, Lancaster Co., PA died March 2, 2019 at the same place. She was born January 25, 1943 at New Holland, Lancaster Co., PA to Titus and Edna (Sauder) Martin.
Surviving are a daughter, Kristina, wife of Tim Wilson of Manheim; four grandchildren, and siblings, Ben husband of Mary Steffy, Phebe wife of Don Good, Esther wife of Charles Lefever and two sisters-in-law: Peggy Redcay Martin and Betsy Weber Martin Brackbill.
Brothers, Mark and Isaac Martin; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Martin, Mary Alice Martin, and Naomi Martin Diffenbach; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Martin preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held March 10, 2019 at Landisville Mennonite Church, Landisville, Lancaster Co., PA.
Kurtz, John S., 91, of Ephrata, died Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Fairmount Homes.
He was the husband of the late Louella H. Rutt Kurtz who died in 2009. Born in East Earl Twp, he was the son of the late Aaron H. and Edna B. Sensenig Kurtz.
John spent his career in the poultry manufacturing industry and was a partner in Favorite Manufacturing with his brothers. John enjoyed gardening and woodcarving and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving is a daughter, Barbara wife of Richard Farneth of Lititz; three sons, Melvin, husband of Judy Horst Kurtz of New Holland, John, husband of Doris Weaver Kurtz of Stevens, and Linford Kurtz of Farmersville; five grandchildren, Jessica Kurtz Herlein, wife of Brad Herlein, Brandon, husband of Sheila Weaver Kurtz, Rebecca Farneth, Jeremy, husband of Brittany Hurst Kurtz, and Jeffrey Kurtz; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Aaron S. husband of Janet Landis Kurtz of New Holland, and Willis S. husband of Ann Marie Martin Kurtz of Ephrata; and three sisters, Jane S., wife of Melvin M. Nolt of Richland, Vera S. Kurtz of New Holland, and Edna S., wife of Glenn Shonk of Ephrata. He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman S. Kurtz and by a sister, Elva S. Zeiset.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 28, at 9 am at Fairmount Homes Wheat Ridge Chapel, 333 Wheat Ridge Dr., Ephrata, with further services at 9:30 at Groffdale Mennonite Church with the Bishop Curvin Z. Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Wheat Ridge Chapel on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 PM.

Kurtz, Luke B., 88, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.
He was born in Ephrata to the late Moses H. and Jennie (Brubaker) Kurtz and was the husband of the late Lillian R. Kurtz who passed away in 2003.
He was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church, Quarryville.
Luke was a dairy farmer.
Luke is survived by four sons, Kenneth, husband of the late Carmen (Wilson) Kurtz of Denver, PA, Harlan, husband of Shirley (Martin) Kurtz of Middleburg, PA, Luke Ray, husband of Jamila (McFarlane) Kurtz of Nakuru, Kenya, David, husband of Dorothy (Miller) Kurtz of Kirksville, MO; four daughters, Arlene, wife of Rodney Zimmerman of Denver, PA, Barbara Zelinski of Akron, PA, Nancy, wife of Ron Schrock of Seymour, MO, Elaine, wife of David Weirich of Arbela, MO; a son-in-law, Tom VanPelt of Columbiana, OH; 47 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman Kurtz; three sisters, Ada Mae Burkholder, Anna Mary, wife of Elmer Hoover, Alma Zimmerman and two sisters-in-law, Lydia Kurtz and Lena Kurtz.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace VanPelt; 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Reinholds - Pauline M. Kurtz, 49, of Reinholds, passed away at home on Saturday, October 12, 2019.
Born in Lebanon, she was the daughter of Lena N. Martin Kurtz of Reinholds, and the late Paul H. Kurtz.
Pauline attended the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving besides her mother are five sisters, Lois wife of Clair Hoover of Morgantown, Ellen wife of Galen Martin of Reinholds, Joyce wife of Allen Leinbach of Unity, WI, Lena Mae Kurtz of Morgantown, and Esther wife of Marlin Weaver of Unity, WI. She was preceded in death by a sister Grace M. Kurtz and by a nephew.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 17, at 2:00 P.M. at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 913 Oaklyn Drive, Narvon, with Bishop Leon S. Zimmerman officiating.
